Description

The British Army railway gun was somewhat of an oddity considering that there was no rail link between the UK and Mainland Europe during either of the World Wars, however the intention would be for them to be shipped overseas and used on European rails. The 13.5 inch rail howitzer was created using a cannon intended for a battleship mounted onto a carriage in Newcastle in late 1917. Two service examples nicknamed the Scene-Shifter and the Boche Buster were sent to France in early 1918, providing firepower in abundance with an effective range of 36,500 meters until the end of the war some months later. The railguns would be stored after the war, however would not see service in World War Two. Note:this product includes a small Vacuum pipe which can be placed on the static model if desired. The vacuum pipe is located on the bogie located the opposite end from the barrel. This pipe will foul the movement of the bogie if you wish to run your wagon on your layout.
